Gambassi Terme is a well-known spa resort located in the hills overlooking the Val d’Elsa, in the province of Florence, which is 54 km away.
Thanks to its position along important communication routes, such as the Etruscan road to Volterra or the Via Clodia between Siena and Lucca, the Gambassi area has been inhabited since ancient times, in the Middle Ages the famous Via Francigena passed through it. Only in 1917 Gambassi became an independent municipality, until then it had been part of the municipality of Montaione.
At the gates of the town, the Romanesque-style building of the Pieve di Santa Maria Assunta in Chianni is very interesting and dates back to the end of the 12th century.

The characteristics of the water in the Gambassi spa are those of highly mineralized natural spring waters with beneficial and curative qualities determined by the particular geological structure of the spring area. The surface temperature of the waters is 14.6°C.
The water of the Gambassi thermal baths is indicated for the various disorders of the digestive system, it has a detoxifying, anti-inflammatory effect on pathologies such as gastritis and colitis, laxative and is also particularly important in hypotensive states.
The spa establishment is immersed in the greenery of the municipal park full of centuries-old trees, the spa building was completely renovated between 2002 and 2003.
