Questo articolo è disponibile anche in: Deutsch Italiano

The Chianti Sculpture Park is located in Pievasciata ca. 10 kilometres north of Siena and it is a permanent exhibition of contemporary installations and sculptures. It is a private initiative of Piero and Rosalba Giadrossi, both lovers of modern art. About 15 years ago they had the idea of an approximately 7-hectare virgin and already fenced wooded area, which was home from 1991 of a wild boar breeding, to use as an exhibition space.

The mission of the park is the integration between art and nature. In order to realize it the artists were invited one by one, to visit the wood, to choose a spot and to make a site – specific proposal in harmony with nature. Every piece is site – specific, in the sense that has been created for the Chianti Sculpture Park after an inspection of the artist. This means that the combination of the works and the trees, the sounds, the colours, the light and any other natural element is total.

Varied are the materials used – iron, travertine, marble, bronze, glass, fiberglass, etc.- The result is a wide variety of sculptures and installations that represent each different cultures.
